Domestic agricultural producers are facing significant challenges recruiting and retaining US-based employees who are willing and able to engage in hired farm work. Over the past few years, I have partnered with agricultural industry groups to conduct surveys of farmers and farm employers to document the prevalence of farm labor shortages, investigate the types of adaptation strategies that have proven to be successful, and search for solutions to the problem. I have included summaries that highlight the results of these surveys below. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at rutled83@msu.edu.
